We can offer workshops on a range of healthy eating topics including:
Our healthy eating workshops have been designed by our dietitian Heather in line with government nutritional recommendations for children
During this workshop the children will learn about the importance of eating a healthy balanced diet. How different food groups make up the Eatwell Guide and how to plan their own healthy diet.
Our breakfast workshop highlights the importance of eating breakfast and where there may be lots of hidden sugar in common breakfast foods. It also teaches the children how to plan and eat a healthy balanced breakfast.
We work with the children to show them how they can plan and prepare a healthy packed lunch including which foods they might need to leave out of a packed lunch.
*For a small extra fee this workshop can be made into a cook and eat session where children produce a variety of recipes which they then eat for their lunch.
We all know that we should be eating less sugar. This workshop helps to highlight to the children the foods which are high in sugar and foods which may contain hidden sugars. We also cover the government recommendations for sugar consumption.
We teach the children how much fluid they should be drinking every day and which are the healthiest fluid choices to make.
In this workshop we look at why it is important to eat five portions of fruit and vegetables a day, and the health benefits of this. We explore what is a portion of fruit and vegetable and how children can achieve their five a day. We also include some food tasting.
We can offer workshops on a range of physical activity topics including:
All children should be active for 60 minutes a day, in this workshop explore how they can include physical activity in their day to day lives and why it is so important
In order to maintain a healthy weight, it is important to have a balance of energy going in and out of the body. In this work shop we focus on the importance of maintaining a healthy energy balance.
We can offer workshops on a range of mental wellbeing topics including:
Sleep and Relaxation
This workshop is designed to teach children the importance of having a good sleep routine, techniques for helping them get to sleep and relaxation techniques they can use at school or home.
Friendships and Relationships
Through puppets and other props we will work with the children to help them learn about the importance of healthy friendships and relationships. This includes the language and behaviour they can use to help develop these
This encourages the children to think about how we all look different and to develop a positive body image of themselves and also the impact the media and our surroundings might have on their opinions of body image.
We can offer workshops on a range of smoking prevention topics including:
The children will produce jars representing the harmful chemicals and solutions which will enter their body if they smoke
We will teach the children the harmful effects of smoking as well as focusing on the financial and social implications of smoking
Research by Public Health England illustrates a strong link between the health and wellbeing of children and their attainment and achievement at school. Therefore, schools who embrace improving the health of their pupils can have a positive effect on the academic results of the school as well as having a positive impact on the Ofsted inspection.
We have a wealth of experience working with schools across the country to improve the health of their pupils.
We have developed all our workshops in line with the current PHSE Curriculum guidance and we can also provide links to the National Curriculum where appropriate.
The workshops are written and produced by our expert team of health professionals including a dietitian, psychologist, physical activity expert with input from teachers, and tried and tested on many pupils!
